Benefits

What Semaglutide (Wegovy / Ozempic) can do for you.

  • Significant weight loss

Average weight reduction of 12–18% over a year, with most men reaching meaningful milestones within 4–6 months.

  • Metabolic improvement

Improvements in blood sugar, cholesterol, and fatty liver typically accompany the weight loss.

  • Cardiovascular benefit

Cardiovascular risk reduction established in patients with overweight + existing CV disease (SELECT trial).

Semaglutide is a once-weekly subcutaneous injection that acts on GLP-1 receptors to reduce appetite, slow gastric emptying, and improve glycemic control. Marketed as Ozempic for type 2 diabetes and Wegovy for chronic weight management, it has reshaped men's health practice over the last several years.

How it works

GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) is a gut hormone released after eating. Semaglutide mimics its action, producing satiety with smaller meals and reducing food noise — the constant low-grade urge to snack that drives a lot of overweight. It also improves insulin sensitivity and lowers postprandial glucose spikes.

What the evidence supports

In the STEP trials (the FDA-registration data for Wegovy), patients on the maximum 2.4 mg dose lost an average of ~15% of body weight over 68 weeks — substantially more than any prior oral weight-loss drug.1 STEP 5 extended this to two-year outcomes showing durable loss.3 SELECT later demonstrated a 20% cardiovascular event reduction in overweight patients with established cardiovascular disease.2

Who it is for

Wegovy is FDA-approved for adults with BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with at least one weight-related comorbidity such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, or type 2 diabetes.4 Some clinics offer compounded semaglutide off-label at lower BMIs based on provider judgment — that decision is between you and a physician.

Side effects and trade-offs

  • GI symptoms — nausea, constipation, reflux — are common in the titration phase. Most ease with slow dose escalation and dietary adjustment.
  • Muscle mass loss is a real concern at higher doses. Protein intake and resistance training are non-optional, not optional.
  • Gallbladder events (cholecystitis, gallstones) occur more often than placebo, particularly with rapid weight loss.
  • After discontinuation, regain is the default. Successful long-term outcomes pair the drug with sustained lifestyle change.

How it works

From consult to follow-up.

  1. Initial consultation

A board-certified physician reviews your symptoms, history, and goals. At many participating clinics the first visit is complimentary.

  2. Baseline labs

Bloodwork tailored to the protocol. Results come back in days, not weeks. We don't prescribe before we have your numbers.

  3. Personalized protocol

Your physician calibrates your dose based on your labs and your goals — not a template. Adjustments happen as your data evolves.

  4. Ongoing follow-up

Recheck visits at six and twelve weeks, then quarterly. Real follow-up, structured into the plan.

Designed around your schedule

  • Consults are short

Initial visits are typically 45–60 minutes. Many participating clinics waive the fee for new patients.

  • Telehealth follow-ups

Where state regulations allow, follow-up visits are conducted via telehealth — no extra drive time.

  • Medication shipped

Prescriptions ship directly from a 503B-licensed pharmacy to your door. No standing in line.

  • Quarterly check-ins

Real follow-up at six and twelve weeks, then quarterly. Not constant visits, not zero visits.
